Ernest Bellocq was a photographer during the late-nineteenth and early twentieth century. He is most famous for his photographs of prostitutes and madams of Storyville - the red light district in New Orleans from 1898-1917. He died in 1949, buried in Saint Louis Cemetery No. 3. His work became famous posthumously after they were discovered by Lee Friedlander in 1970.
